In today's "always connected" world, the expectation to communicate just as well in the air as you can on the ground is growing. SwiftBroadband is designed to meet the demand for more bandwidth across all areas of aviation - as well as delivering the same high-quality voice communications that are customary from Inmarsat.

Enhanced Data Services

SwiftBroadband allows more simultaneous users and more demanding applications. Rates can be increased further by using parallel channels and data compression.
It supports both IP and circuit-switched applications, with a choice between contended services and data streaming on demand.
SwiftBroadband enables all key cockpit and cabin applications, including: telephony, text messaging, email, internet and intranet access, as well as flight plan, weather and chart updates.

• Contended IP data at up to 432kbps
• IP data streaming on demand at 32, 64 and 128kbps
• GPRS, UMTS and ISDN compatible
• Currently one and two-channel avionics  
• Standalone or simultaneous operation with other Inmarsat services.

Security

Compatible with government-grade encryption and secure communications standards, including STU-IIIb, STE, Taclane, KIV-7 and Brent.

Coverage

SwiftBroadband will be accessible worldwide, except the extreme polar regions, following the successful launch of our third Inmarsat-4 satellite. Initially it is available across the Americas, Africa, Europe and Asia.
